William John Garner worked as an chemist at Union Carbide. Patricia Ann was a teacher at the local college. Her father was a chemical engineer and she aspired to become as skilled as him. So that she could fulfill her desire to be an actress, she relocated in New York. In addition to appearing in Broadway shows, she also was a waitress at a nearby restaurant. She was in a guest role on the tv show "Felicity." The show was in this show that she first met Scott Foley, her first husband. Garner made her breakthrough in the action film "Alias." Garner's first leading role was the acclaimed romance "13 Thirty-something." The film starred her as the role of a teenager caught stuck in the body of an older woman of 30. Garner selected Gary Winick as the director of the film. The team continued to look for projects until Winick's death in the year 2011. Garner was made an ambassador for artists in 2011 by Save the Children U.S.A. Alongside the promotion of early education, literacy, and nutrition at the national level, Garner's role also includes promotion of the literacy of all Americans. Garner has been a member of the board of this non-profit organization from 2014. She promotes early preschool education.
